Sanskrit Manuscripts : Padārthamālā

Jayarāma Nyāyapañcānana

Sanskrit Manuscripts

The work is an independent philosophical treatise on the topic of the seven categories (padārthas), also known under the title Padārthamaṇimālā. Its author, Jayarāma Nyāyapañcānana, is the pupil of one Rāmabhadra, whose identity is still uncertain (extensive discussion in Mishra 1962: 437). He belongs to the Bengali school of Navya-Nyāya, and was active in the 17th century (Kaviraj 1961: 69). The date of copy of the manuscript, 1692 saṃvat (= 1636 AD), may thus be very close to the date of composition of the text.
