<p style='text-align: justify;'>The manuscript contains one of the most famous compendia (<i>nibandha</i>) on Hindu law composed by Vācaspati Miśra II from Mithilā, who was probably active in the 15th century (Tagore 1863: xxviii; Kane 1975: 852-53). The work deals with the eighteen “topics of law” (<i>vyavahārapāda</i>) enumerated in the <i>Mānavadharmaśāstra (8.4-8)</i>, and was recognized until modern times as a major authority on legal matters in Mithilā (Bihar).</p>
