This palm-leaf manuscript, probably written towards the end of the 14th century, under the reign of Jayasthiti Malla (1382-1395), is the codex unicus of the Abhinavarāghavānandanāṭaka, a play on the Rāma story by Māṇikya (or Maṇika), a court intellectual and polymath who is also the author of the Mānavanyāyaśāstraṭīkā, a Newārī commentary-cum-translation on the Nāradasmṛti (see Add.2137), as well as of a Newari commentary on the Amarakoṣa, preserved in its autograph: Add.1698 (see also Shastri 1905: x and 43-44). The nāndī and the prastāvanā offer interesting information on the performance of the play (the place of performance, Bhatgāon) and on the reigning dynasty. The manuscript ends abruptly in the middle of the fourth act.
