Sanskrit Manuscripts : Añjanāsundarīcaupaī

Puṇyasāgara, Puṇyasāgara

Sanskrit Manuscripts

This part of the manuscript contains the 2nd and 3rd chapter (khaṇḍa) of the Añjanasundarīcaupaī, a Śvetāmbara narrative text in Gujarati language. The author Puṇyasāgara was a pupil of Karmasāgarasūri of the Pīṃpalagaccha. Composed in V.S. 1689, the work deals with the story of Añjanasundarī's marriage with prince Pavanañjaya, son of king Prahlāda (for details see Balbir 2006: Cat. No. 825). The scribe Gajavijaya was a pupil of Tejavijayamuni, who was a pupil of Vijayasiṃhasūri under the pontiff Vijayadevasūri of the Tapāgaccha. This lineage is also given at the end of the work Śrīpālacaritrarāsa by Jinavijaya (see Schubring 1944: Cat. No. 1093).
