Somasūri, Somasūri

Sanskrit Manuscripts

This manuscript contains the Paryantārādhanāsūtra by Somasūri with an anonymous Gujarati commentary (ṭabo). This Sūtra is the 12th Prakīrṇaka of the Śvetāmbara canon belonging to the so-called 'supernumerary' Prakīrṇakas. It deals with „the last period of a religious life before voluntary death“ (Balbir 2006 vol 2: p. 176). The manuscript was written by Meghajī, son of Sūracanda in Sthambhatīrtha (mod. Kambhat in Gujarat) in 1619 CE for himself.
