<p>Norman Rowlstone Jarrett joined the Federated Malay States Civil Service in 1912. He served as British Adviser, Trengganu, 1937; Food Controller, Malaya, 1939-41; and as Acting British Resident, Selangor, 1941. During internment by the Japanese at Changi and Sime Road between 1942 and 1945, he served as Camp Quartermaster. Jarrett acted as Secretary of the Association of British Malaya from 1946 to 1953.</p>
