The opening section of the letter is found in T-S NS J563. The writer mentions Ibrahīm b. Farāḥ b. al-Iskandrānī, stating that he has written to him. The Judaeo-Arabic definite article is generally attached, but shows a tendency towards separation (see, e.g., line 4); hamza-shaped alef; gimel for jīm is pointed with a supralinear dot; dalet for ḏāl is pointed with a supralinear dot; tāʾ marbūṭa is sometimes marked with a supralinear dot. </p>
