Several possible places of origin have been proposed. Treharne (1998, pp. 240-44) suggests a South-Eastern origin, probably Christ Church, Canterbury or Rochester. Schipper (1983, pp. 291-92), building on Godden (1967, p. 23), argues that part of the manuscript was copied at the cathedral priory at Ely, on the basis of the presence of text on St Æthelthryth from the Vita sanctorum<\/i> on ff. 34v-36v<\/a>, which could have constituted the central starting point for the process of copying. Traxel (2004, p. 207) suggests a possible compilation originally from St Augustine's, Canterbury and then Ely. Mary Richards' review (2007) of Traxel re-proposes a possible Rochester provenance.
