A Bengali scholar of Dvaita Vedānta, Pūrṇānanda was a student of Nārāyaṇa Bhaṭṭa and flourished in the 17th century or later (Sharma 1961: 236). This short polemical work is a refutation, in 122 verses, of the <i>māyāvāda<\/i> doctrine of Advaita Vedānta. This manuscript was, alongside a printed edition, the single manuscript used by E. B. Cowell in his edition and translation of the text published in 1873 (Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Vol. XV). <\/p>"

   "value": "<p><b>Marginalia<\/b><\/p><div style='list-style-type: disc;'><div style='display: list-item; margin-left: 20px;'>On the <a href='' onclick='store.loadPage(1);return false;'>first folio<\/a>, the following note was written, most certainly by E.B. Cowell himself, who explains in the introduction to his edition and translation of the text (1873) that he was given this manuscript by his \"friend\", the Pandit Maheśachandra Nyāyaratna, then the Principal of the Calcutta Sanskrit College (he became Principal after Cowell). The note reads: \"This is a copy which Paṇḍit Maheśa Chandra Nyāyaratna had made for me from a ms. in the possession of a Calcutta Paṇḍit. He himself carefully compared it with the original and corrected it. He has noted in the margin different readings from a ms. in the Sanskrit Coll. Library, <i class='delim' style='font-style:normal; color:red'>[<\/i><i class='unclear' style='font-style:normal;' title='This text imperfectly legible in source'>Folio?<\/i><i class='delim' style='font-style:normal; color:red'>]<\/i>7.20 1882. He also compared it with another ms. belonging to the Pandit and noted its readings in red ink.\"<\/div><div style='display: list-item; margin-left: 20px;'>Several annotations and corrections in the margins by Pandit Maheśacandra [Nyāyaratna], who gave this manuscript to E.B. Cowell. These annotations and corrections are either in black or red ink. Those in red ink, as the note on the first folio makes clear (see below), refer to the readings of another manuscript with which the Pandit compared the present manuscript.<\/div><\/div>"
