Sanskrit Manuscripts : Rājamārtaṇḍa

Bhoja, Bhoja

Sanskrit Manuscripts

This manuscript contains a famous commentary on the Yogasūtra of Patañjali. The commentary is attributed to king Bhoja, who reigned in the 11th century in Dhārā, central India. In the manuscript itself, the text is called Bhojavṛtti, but the most well known title is possibly Rājamārtaṇḍa (see, for instance, MS Add.2146). However, Rājamārtaṇḍa is also the title of a text on jyotiṣa as well as a text on āyurveda (see MS Add.2480), both also attributed to king Bhoja. The last folio of the manuscript is missing, and the text is completed in a different hand in the bottom margin of the last extant folio.
