Śaṅkara

Sanskrit Manuscripts

A paper manuscript of a commentary (vivaraṇa, ṭīkā) on the Sānatsujātīya. The commentary is traditionally attributed to Śaṅkara, and the manuscript concords with this tradition. The Sānatsujātīya refers to an episode of the Udyogaparvan in the Mahābhārata containing reflections on death, Brahman, and the virtues of brahmacarya. The episode in question contains five chapters (adhyāya); the manuscript contains only the first four chapters.
