Sanskrit Manuscripts : Mīmāṃsārahasya

Ananta Bhaṭṭa

Sanskrit Manuscripts

Unpublished commentary or “garland of chapters” (adhikaraṇamālā) on the Mīmāmsāsūtras, better known under the title Nyāyarahasya (see NCC: 1.135; Mishra 1964: 52; Verpoorten 1987: 46). The MS covers sections 2 and 3 of the first book (adhyāya) of the collection. The author, Ananta Bhaṭṭa, is the grandson of one Rāmakṛṣṇa Bhaṭṭa and the son of Kamalākara Bhaṭṭa (alias Dādu Bhaṭṭa), a famous writer on Mīmāṃsā and Dharmaśāstra (see Kane 1975: 925-937). Since the latter’s Nirṇayasindhu was completed in 1612 (Ramaswami Sastri 1936: 131; Mishra 1964: 52), the present work was probably written later in the 17th century. The MS contains copious annotations. No indication on the scribe.
