Cairo Genizah : Liturgy: Passover Haggada

Cairo Genizah

Incomplete booklet of the Passover Haggada, with eight leaves preserved. It opens with the question on eating meat (שבכל הליליות אני אוכלים בשר צלי שלוק ומבושל), and includes the poetic Birkat ha-Mazon אז בפסח גאלתה, identified in Davidson's Thesaurus of Hebrew Poetry (1924), I 2116. The fragment was first described in Abrahams (1897: 47-8), who drew attention to its frequent use of הקודש ברוך הוא. It includes the והיא שעמדה, the statement of Rabban Gamliel, בכל דור ודור, the hallel, the washing of the hands, and the readings from Numbers 28 and Leviticus 23. The Tetragrammaton is abbreviated. Text overwritten in places.
