Western Medieval Manuscripts : Gospel of Matthew

Western Medieval Manuscripts

This fragment is a scrap of parchment retrieved from the endleaves of a Hebrew manuscript, and contains part of the Gospel of Matthew, probably copied in the early 12th century. The manuscript of which it originally formed part was provided with the typical numbering for the Ammonian sections, the standard short subdivisions of the Gospels, and for the Eusebian canons, the system identifying which of these sections corresponded to parallel passages in the other Gospels. It was copied in two narrow columns.

Dr Christopher Wright
