Drawings : Drawings of Faience and Exotica

de Jong, Piet (1887-1967)

This album gathers together drawings of excavated objects that share the feature of being made from high status and precious materials. All the faience objects illustrated here, and a rhyton made of steatite, were excavated in the House of Shields, one of the ‘Ivory Houses’ outside the citadel. Additionally, a tiny brass wing inlaid with gold and silver, found in the House of Lead on the Atreus ridge, rounds off this ensemble.
