Publication in <i>Proceedings of the Royal Society</i> restricts correspondence.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'><i>Reader</i> much improved.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Tyndall did write piece on spiritualism ["Science and the spirits", <i>Reader</i> 4 (1864): 725–6].</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>"Suppressed gout" annoys him as a term cloaking ignorance.</p>
