"The manner in which he drags in immortality, & sets the Priests at me … is base".</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>JDH has made CD feel he can "face a score of savage reviewers".</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>H. C. Watson has written to him in tremendous praise of the <i>Origin</i>.</p>
