<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Made from 12 separate panels joined together, this sampler demonstrates a range of stitches, repeated patterns and individual motifs. It was most probably made by a girl approaching the end of her apprenticeship with the female teacher (ma'allema) of a professional embroidery workshop. In Morocco, young women attended workshops to improve their needle skills, which they would then use in the home or in their work as professional embroiderers.</p></p>
