<p style='text-align: justify;'>This book illustrates step-by-step how the historical warrior Minamoto no Yoshiie (1039?-1106?) would have dressed in his armour from his undergarments to his weapons. The <a href='' onclick='store.loadPage(18);return false;'>final two illustrations</a> in the book show Yoshiie in his full armour, complete with arrows and bow. The compiler, Ise Sadatake (or Teijō, 1717-1784), was a prolific writer, with his research focused on the ceremony and culture of Japan’s past. He was also a bannerman (hatamoto 旗本), a high-ranking samurai in service to the shōgun, but he lived in a time when samurai were more like civil servants than warriors.</p>
