Among Newton's sources are the Ripley commentaries of Eirenaeus Philalethes (for bibliographical information on these, see William R. Newman, <i>Gehennical Fire</i>, Appendix V, entries 16, 22, 23, 25-28), the <i>Triomphe hermetique</i> attributed to A.T. Limojon, Sieur de St. Didier (for which see B.J.T. Dobbs, <i>Janus Faces of Genius</i>, pp. 42, 44, and 180), the <i>Introitus apertus ad occlusum regis palatium</i> of Eirenaeus Philalethes (see Newman, <i>Gehennical Fire</i>, Appendix V, entry 17) , as well as various works of Michael Maier, the anonymous <i>Instructio patris de arbore solari</i>, the <i>Metamorphosis planetarum</i> of John de Monte Snyders, the <i>Twelve Keys</i> of Basilius Valentinus, and the <i>Turba philosophorum</i>.
