David Qimḥi

Lewis-Gibson

<p style='text-align: justify;'>Part of Qimḥi, Sefer ha-Šorašim ('The book of roots'). The root entries appear as follows: f. 1r: The original scribe has added isolated Tiberian vocalisation signs. A later reader has added Tiberian vocalisation and accentuation signs to isolated biblical citations, frequently adding a marginal note indicating the source of the citation. When the source of the citation is a Psalm, the relevant Psalm number is given in the margin. Elsewhere, the citation’s context is briefly sketched. E.g. לעניין נוב עיר (pertaining to a citation from 1 Sam 21:3). Very occasionally, the later reader has added marginal notes offering alternative grammatical explanations to those expressed in the main text. Ca. 13th-16th century.</p>
