Cairo Genizah : Piyyuṭ

Cairo Genizah

Recto: piyyutim, finishing at the top of verso. There is a heading ל׳ מאורות (or מאונות), followed by the first poem, a qina (dirge, קינה) אדם בבוא יומו. The second poem is also a dirge, איכה ברוב מוקשי בעוד יום בא שמשי, which concludes at the top of verso (upside-down in relation to recto). The end of the poems is marked in both cases with כמלת. Verso originally contained a Judaeo-Arabic legal document from the period of David Maimonides (David b. Abraham b. Moses), and a partial date is preserved of Elul 15... It was written in Fusṭāṭ, and mentions [...] b. Beraḵot ha-Sar, as well as an unknown doctor (הרופא). The document is probably in the hand of Emmanuel b. Yeḥiʾel.
