<p style='text-align: justify;'>This letter belongs to a collection of letters from Joseph Needham to Dorothy Needham while he was a member of the International Commission on Bacteriological Warfare in China and Korea in 1952. Entitled ‘Notes on the way’, it begins at the Kazan airfield with a route including the Moscow-Volga canal, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan Bator, then to Beijing. The notes are written on various pieces of paper, including a napkin from Sverdlovsk airport. Includes illustrations of views from the plane and a ticket annotated with points on his journey.</p>
