Sanskrit Manuscripts : Kumārasambhava

Sanskrit Manuscripts

A modern manuscript of Kālidāsa's Kumārasambhava, containing sargas from 9 to 17, namely, the latter part of the poem which some scholars do not ascribe to Kālidāsa but to a later (and less talented) poet (for bibliographical references on the debate see NCC, Vol. 4, p. 211). The text of this manuscript is written in black ink on a paper copybook, in a clear and extremely regular hand. The date given in the colophon ([Vikrama] Saṃvat 1917, Āgrāhāyana month, 2nd tithi) corresponds to December 2nd, 1860 CE, and tallies with the date written on the first blank page of the manuscript (‘Dec. 1860’).
