<p style='text-align: justify;'>The manuscript contains a large selection of works by the Greek rhetor <i>Aelius Aristides</i> (ca. 118-181 CE). He was a leading exponent of the Second Sophistic, a Greek philosophical-literary current developed in Asia Minor during the imperial age, between the end of the 1st and the 4th century CE. On the upper margin of p. 1, the author is erroneously referred to as "Aristotelis Rhetor".</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>The manuscript was copied between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, by a single scribe who added the title and decoration in red ink. The first and last folios of all quires were originally parchment, but not all have survived. The text appears to be defective in several places, both because of the loss of some folios and because of the scribe, who in one case (<a href='' onclick='store.loadPage(51);return false;'>pp. 45-[46]</a>) tried to fill the gap.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>It was donated to the Trinity College in 1738 by Roger Gale, the eldest son of the Fellow of Trinity and Dean of York Thomas Gale, who was also an antiquarian.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>It is the no. 99 in C.A.
