Medieval and Early Modern Greek Manuscripts

This manuscript, produced in the 17th century, is a copy of the Anabasis of the 4th century BCE Athenian author Xenophon. The text is a historical memoir of the participation in a Persian civil war of a force of Greek mercenaries, one of whose commanders was the author himself, and their tortuous retreat to the Black Sea after their employer's defeat. The manuscript also contains a series of brief Latin poems on different fruits.

Dr Christopher Wright
