Recto: letter, which is a reply to the verso. The writer reports that Abū Isaac had spoken to the family of the addressee’s paternal uncle, and they believe that the excommunication (?) is fully deserved (it is unclear who has been excommunicated). It is also reported that one family can’t marry into another family because there are Muslims in it. Verso: letter mentioning that the writer had arrived safely and had informed the community about what happened. The writer asks the addressees to inform Abū ʿAlī that he is worried about Abū l-Ḵayr and asks his brother Abū Isaac to speak to his paternal uncle’s family to negotiate peace in a family feud. The letter also mentions Abū ʿAlī and Abū Zikrī.
