Fragment of a letter from Joseph b. Geršon (a French scholar appointed by the Nagid Abraham Maimonides to be one of the three judges of the Jewish community in Alexandria), probably written to the Nagid, complaining about one of his fellow judges, whose name is not preserved, and seeking confirmation of his position from the local non-Jewish authorities. Also mentions the third judge, Elijah, with whom he is pleased, and Ṭahīr, an elder of the community.
