<p style='text-align: justify;'>Part of a letter, c. mid-11th century, from various officials on behalf of a number of Jewish communities in Upper Galilee, expressing loyalty to the Nagid in Jerusalem. Places listed include Safed, the city Biriyya which is next to the city Safed, the city ʿAyn al-Zaytun which is next to the city Safed, the city ʿAlma, the city al-ʿAlawiya which is next to Guš Halav, and the city al-Guš (Halav). The officials listed include Saʿadya b. Obadiah, David b. Mešullam, Pinḥas b. Mešullam, Jacob ha-Kohen b. Obadiah ha-Kohen, Saʿadya b. David, Abraham b. Saʿadya, Elʿazar b. Isaiah the cantor, Sason b. Elʿazar the cantor, Elʿazar b. Ḥiyyā, Saʿadya b. Solomon, Yefet the cantor b. Moses, Solomon b. Ḥasday, Obadiah b. Jacob, Isaac b. Ḥasday, Joseph b. Jacob, Judah b.
