Cairo Genizah : Masora

Cairo Genizah

Masora magna, apparently from the Tiberian tradition, for Joshua 22:19 - 2 Samuel 24:22. Text appears to be in some disarray; e.g. what is now f. 1r contains notes on 2 Samuel 19-20, followed by notes on 1 Samuel 9. Orthography is misleading in places. e.g. f. 2r contains a note indicating the two occurrences of the name פֻרה with copulative waw (Judges 7:10, 11). The list spells the name plene: ופורה, despite the fact that in the Leningrad and Aleppo codices the name is written defectively in both instances (Leningrad contains the masora parva note on Judges 7:11: ב וחס). Distinct notes are separated using the symbol <.
