Cairo Genizah : Piyyuṭ; liturgy

Saʿadya Gaʾon, R. Pinḥas

Cairo Genizah

The quire, now missing outer bifolia, opens with an ʿamida-type prayer by Saʿadya Gaʾon, in which every benediction begins with ברוך שמך ייי צבאות אלהי ישראל (P3 f.2, P1 f.2, P2 1r-2r). Then follows the mišmarot of R. Pinḥas (P2 f. 2v, P1 f. 1, P3 f. 1) but only 21 survive. Some mišmarot are accompanied by Judaeo-Arabic glosses.
