Cairo Genizah : Poetry

Solomon al-Ṭawīl, al-Ḥarīzī (?)

Cairo Genizah

Two panegyrics, one, with a decorated title גירה אלמעני, for Joseph b. Solomon Ibn Šošan (Nasi of Toledo who died 1205), possibly by al-Ḥarīzī, while the other poem, which begins halfway down the page on verso, is entitled ‘By Solomon al-Ṭawīl, who addresses David al-Rav al-Hadasī from Sijilmāsa to Marrakesh after his departure from them’. Both poems rhyme in -im.
