Cairo Genizah : List

Cairo Genizah

<p style='text-align: justify;'>One side of the bifolium (ff. 1r and 2v) contains a list of names, including Abū l-Majjar al-Ḥazzan (who gets two waybas), Abū l-Faraj al-Šammaš and Ṭāhir al-Šammaš, The names are mostly in Hebrew script, with some in Arabic script, and including a few women (אלמגרביה, several cases of ‘wife of’). Amounts, such as ‘a wayba’ (ויבה) or ‘half a wayba’, are written under the names, indicating that this is a list of people receiving charitable donations of bread or other foodstuffs. The other side consists of a large amount of Arabic jottings. </p>
