Part of a letter from Maḍmūn b. Yefet in Aden to Abraham Ibn Yijū in India, ca. 1145 CE. Ibn Yijū had asked about sending goods to his brother Mevasser, and Maḍmūn replies that he will arrange for it to be sent, but that he has heard that Mevasser is a good-for-nothing. Furthermore, no travellers have arrived in Aden from Egypt in the last two years, because of an epidemic in Egypt, but now the situation seems to have improved. On the verso Ibn Yijū has written a liturgical poem for the evening of Yom Kippur.
