<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>The Hyndes sold the estate in 1595 to the Fowkes family and it was probably they who altered the remaining buildings to the early C17 house shown by Relhan. This drawing show a complete restoration of the main building. Five dormer windows have been rebuilt and some windows in the S front boarded over or blocked by stonework; a chimney has been moved, and another is smoking, so someone was living there. </p><p>Bradley and Pevsner 2014; Davis EM pers comm; RCHME 1972; VCH 2002 </p></p>
