Relhan Collection : 234 Kirtling Hall. Grand door or front entrance, dated 1572

Relhan, Richard, 1782-1844

Relhan Collection

1800

Probably drawn from an engraving

This is the extremely grand front door to Catledge Hall, the building that was demolished in 1801 and is just visible on (232). The artist drew it showing the sky and birds through the doorway, so the Hall must have already been roofless and derelict. The two stone griffins above the pillars now stand in front of Kirtling Tower.
