<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Cole 1742 writes ‘<i>at the upper end of S aisle is a very handsome altar monument of black marble with a neat free stone pediment against the wall’</i> to Edward Ventris, d.1636. Edward Ventris of Bury manor bought Granham’s manor from Ernest Carey and later the family sold it to Francis Duncombe.</p><p>Palmer 1932; VCH 1982</p></p>
