<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>1837</p><p>Originally built as a guildhall dating to the late C15 or early C16 it was used as a workhouse by 1600, with inmates originally working at spinning or weaving. Soon poor relief was paid in cash but the building was again a workhouse by 1776, when it had 40 inmates. It was converted to cottages, was occasionally used as a schoolhouse but is now one dwelling. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, 2 storeys and a hipped plain tiles roof. It was superbly restored from 1967 onwards by Peter and Margaret Spufford, and adapted for disabled access.
