<p style='text-align: justify;'>When Rutherford arrived from New Zealand in 1895, he brought with him his radio receiver. Until mid-1896, this was his main research work and, for a few months, he held the world distance record for radio communication from the Cambridge Observatories to central Cambridge, a distance of about 1.5 miles.</p>
