<p style='text-align: justify;'>Aston devoted his entire research career at the Cavendish Laboratory to perfecting the mass spectrograph, eventually reaching a mass resolution of almost one part in 100 000 with his third mass spectrograph. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the invention of the mass spectrograph and the separation of isotopes.</p>
