<p style='text-align: justify;'>Sir George Gabriel Stokes was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics from 1849 until his death in 1903. He made major contributions to fluid dynamics and physical optics. Although he interacted with Maxwell, Rayleigh, JJ Thomson and others, he was never a member of the Cavendish.</p>
