Cavendish Laboratory : Portrait of John (Jack) F. Allen

Cavendish Laboratory

John Frank 'Jack' Allen, a Canadian, was one of the discovers of superfluidity in the Mond Laboratory in 1937. The photograph was taken from a snapshot and Crowe & Andrews tried to fake out the background, not very successfully. The final print for display was made by Edward Leigh from the same snapshot. Allen became Professor of Physics at St. Andrews Univeristy.
