<p style='text-align: justify;'>The ion source for the Van de Graaff accelerator for spraying electric charges onto the fast-moving belt which carried them to the high-voltage electrodes. This is one of four views taken at 90° to one another of the ion source with the cover off. The four images were taken to record the positions of the components for maintenance purposes and so on.</p>
