In 1933 Oliphant designed and built a simplified version of the Cockroft-Walton machine which operated up to voltages of 200 kV. It produced fluxes of protons one hundred times greater than the earlier machine. Oliphant and Rutherford confirmed the earlier results and provided many more details of the products of the disintegrations (Longair, 2016, p.218).
