Cavendish Laboratory : Floor plan of the second floor of the Rayleigh Wing, 1966

Cavendish Laboratory

The Rayleigh Wing was built in 1908, thanks to the generosity of Lord Rayleigh who donated £5,000 of his Nobel Prize award for this project. The diagram shows the Rayleigh extension to the left of Maxwell's original laboratory which occupies the whole right half of the plan. The plan dates from March 1966 and shows the location of the new furniture and fittings in both the Rayleigh wing and the original Maxwell Laboratory.
