<p style='text-align: justify;'>In the Rutherford era, fluid dynamics research was supervised by Geoffrey I. (G.I.) Taylor. He was a leading authority on all apsects of fluid and gas dynamics and pioneered the theory of turbulence and the theory of dislocations in metals. He carried out many innovative experiment in fluid dynamics. He had his office close to Rutherford's.</p>
