<p style='text-align: justify;'> Wynn-Williams invented the scale of two counter scale-of-two counter in order to increase the counting rate of charged particles in nuclear physics experiments. This began the transition from the use of fluorescent screen detectors to the more objective electronic counters. This was the first electronic binary counter.</p>
