Walking with Constable : Walk F

Walking with Constable

<p style='text-align: justify;'>Thursday 25 May 2023 was an overcast and almost chilly day, but that didn’t hamper the warmth of company that came with the group of ladies who joined us on <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://walking-the-landscape.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/walks/Walk-F/'>Walk F</a> from Ipswich based charity <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://phoebecentre.org.uk/'>P.H.O.E.B.E.</a> This walk from Dedham, along to Flatford and up to East Bergholt before descending the valley back to Dedham was an adventure and a half - we had to navigate a flooded River Stour and negotiate a herd of young inquisitive cows! </p><p style='text-align: justify;'> We got the walk off to a start by discussing the mezzotint process as we used augmented reality to compare two prints of the ‘A Mill’ scene to compare both an <a href='/view/PR-FITZWILLIAM-P-01353-R/1'>early</a> and <a href='/view/PR-FITZWILLIAM-P-01360-R/1'>later</a> stage prints. We also discovered the <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://www.dedhamvalestourvalley.org/landscape-lens/'>Dedham Vale’s Landscape Lens</a> fixed-point photography post at <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://landscapelens.dedhamvalestourvalley.org/location/dedham-bridge/'>Dedham Bridge</a>. At Flatford we viewed the scene of the <a href='/view/PR-FITZWILLIAM-P-00232-01954-00001-D/1'>‘River Stour, Suffolk’</a>, and up on the edge of East Bergholt we looked back up the Dedham Vale at the <a href='/view/PR-FITZWILLIAM-P-00232-01954-00002-B/1'>‘Summer Evening’</a> view. </p>
