Walking with Constable : Walk I

Walking with Constable

<p style='text-align: justify;'>On a short walk for the senses, we explore ways for blind and partially sighted people to experience Constable on <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://walking-the-landscape.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/walks/Walk-I/'>Walk I</a>. One of the methods we employed involved using tactile 3D printed objects that relate to the <a href='/view/PR-FITZWILLIAM-P-00232-01954-00001-B/1'>'Spring' mezzotint</a>. These included two pieces of wood that were saved from the <a href='/view/MS-CIMUSEUMS-COLEM-00136-A'>Old Windmill, East Bergholt</a> because Constable had carved graffiti on them, and <a href='/view/MS-CIMUSEUMS-IPSMG-R-01977-00083'>"Gainsborough's Horse"</a>, a statue that was once owned by Constable. Down at the <a target='_blank' class='externalLink' href='https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/suffolk/flatford'>Flatford Site</a>, we took some time to soak up the atmosphere and create some artistic responses to the environment. </p>
