Walking with Constable : Walk K

Walking with Constable

We had so far been lucky in escaping rain on our walks, but the morning journey to Flatford for Walk K was ominously wet. Walk K was planned a little differently to some of our other walks. We'd invited some of the National Trust's volunteers at the Flatford Site to join us and share some of their knowledge and experience of Flatford and Constable. The damp start meant that this time the umbrellas kept the rain off rather than the sun as we viewed the ‘Mill Stream’ mezzotint at the iconic site of Willy Lott's cottage. As the rain eased, we took a look at the ‘River Stour, Suffolk’ mezzotint before setting out to East Bergholt. After climbing the valley sides, our destination was The Constable Memorial Hall where we dried off and undertook a creative writing exercise that produced a 'Walking with Constable Alphabet'.
